So one of the fun things about fantasy and sci-fi fandom is that fans enjoy community either in person or online.
At Conventions you will find a host of fun things to do. There's other people you meet, stuff to buy, and the latest announcements about your favorite movie, comic, or game. You can attend panels with experts, meet celebrities, and enter or watch contests.

Celebration is an official convention dedicated exclusively to Star Wars. (Japan 2025) One of the next is on my list of things to do before I die or enter the Force.
Because there is so much cool stuff that fills the galaxy of Star Wars, it's being collected either as original props or being celebrated with fan events.
I represented my Cos With Cause organization at GalaxyCon in St. Louis, MO.
During my first convention experience I also got to try out Ludo saber training, meet an astromech and his maker, and meet up with my friend the cosplay pastor a.k.a. Agent Shield.
Along the way I saw members of the 501st Star Wars cosplay group (and got to shoot a blaster at Bo Katan), cast members from Star Wars shows, and fans of all kinds of scifi and fantasy genres.
There were also interviews, workshops, and lots of vendors.
I made it into the Costume Contest video as part of the audience!
Identities exhibit in Munich, Germany, 2016.
Occasionally there are Exhibitions about a franchise or a particular genre either at an established institution like a museum or set up special for the event. A subset are special Concerts, some of which include screenings.
★ Fan Data: Examples include my visit at the Star Wars Identities exhibit, and a few movie screenings with live score played by the St. Louis Symphony, like attending The Force Awakens as Obi-Wan.
★ News Rave: The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is possibly going to have a collection or section dedicated to Star Wars but little is known.

★ Fan Fact: For the 20th anniversary of Star Wars, the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, organized a year-long exhibit featuring original movie set costumes and props. Do I wish I had been there in 1997!
